Lighting that works beyond the showroom
Room use shapes the plan
We choose positions and controls around the tasks carried out in the space.
Compatibility checked
Fittings, lamps and dimmers need to work together without flicker or poor control.
Controls explained clearly
We demonstrate switching and dimming after the installation has been tested.
Put the right light in the right place
Poor lighting can make cooking awkward, working tiring and stairs harder to use. We install and alter household lighting to improve visibility, atmosphere and energy use. Options can include ceiling fittings, downlights, wall lights, LED lighting, dimmers and suitable external lights. For light fitting installation in Grays, we consider what happens in the room, the light level you want and where controls need to sit. We also check whether the chosen fitting works with the existing circuit, mounting surface and any dimming equipment.

Customer-supplied fittings still need checking
A fitting that looks right in the box may be too heavy for the mounting point, incompatible with a dimmer or unsuitable for a location with added safety requirements. We check its condition, rating and installation needs before fitting it. The circuit is isolated while we remove or alter equipment, complete the connections and secure the new light. We then test the work and show you how the controls operate. Where a lighting plan needs new cable routes or several switching positions, we agree the layout before cutting into finished surfaces.
Frequently asked questions
Can you fit a light that we have already bought?
Yes, subject to checks on its condition, rating, mounting needs and suitability for the intended location. Keep the instructions and all supplied parts. If it is incompatible or unsafe to fit, we explain why before proceeding.
Can a standard switch be changed to a dimmer?
Sometimes. The lamp, fitting and dimmer must be compatible, and the existing wiring must support the proposed control. We check these points first because mismatched equipment can cause flicker, noise or poor dimming.
Will new downlights damage the ceiling?
Downlights require suitable openings and enough clear space above. We assess joists, insulation, cable routes and the fitting specification before setting positions. Any cutting is planned around those constraints rather than based on appearance alone.
